These are my Obsessions

I had a conversation with my mom a little while ago about how little kids get obsessed with certain things, like my nephew who is really into space and astronauts right now. And how my brother loved cowboys for a period of time. We talked about how I was never a kid who was crazy about anything in particular. Yes, I played The Lion King at a volume that could burst your eardrum, and I had a million stuffed animals, but I was never really obsessed with anything.
I proceeded to say that I just don't think I have an obsessive personality;I'm not really obsessed with anything. After I said that, my mom just stared at me like I was crazy. Okay, I said, yes Paul Newman. And the Giants, she said.
Okay, yes, I have two major obsessions. I retract my previous statement about not being crazy about anything, because I am definitely obsessed with Paul Newman and The San Francisco Giants. But they are completely justified; they're like the two greatest things in the world.

Paul Newman is just amazing and the most attractive man to have ever lived. I am convinced that we were meant to be together and that I was born in the wrong time, or he was born in the wrong time. Either way, it's true love. I meaaan, look at him...

I have this one hanging on my wall, along with one other.

I first encountered Paul my senior year of high school when we watched Cool Hand Luke in my English class, and it was love at first sight. First of all, Cool Hand Luke is a great movie. It's one of my all-time favorites. If you haven't seen it, go watch it. Right now. Secondly, Paul Newman is just perfect, in every way, even when he's eating a mass amount of hard-boiled eggs.
If you're not familiar with Paul Newman and you want to be (and who are you kidding? You want to be), here are some of his movies you should watch:
1.Cool Hand Luke. A classic and my favorite Paul Newman movie. "What we've got here is failure to communicate."
2. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Paul Newman aaand Robert Redford, who wouldn't want to watch? Also if you like westerns and biking to Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head.
3. The Hustler. Pool playing and hustlin'. If you've seen The Color of Money, this is what came first, and in my opinion, is the better of the two.
4. The Color of Money. Paul got his one and only Oscar for this one. More pool playin' and hustlin', this time with Tom Cruise.
5. The Sting. More Paul Newman and Robert Redford, this time with mob bosses and con men.
6. Road to Perdition. A newer movie with an older Paul for those of you who don't like old movies. Also, Tom Hanks and guns and mobsters and murder.

Those are just six of the many many great films Paul Newman has been a part of. Go watch them, and see why I love Paul oh so much.

My second obsession is The San Francisco Giants. Why you ask? Well because they are the best baseball team ever, obviously. Baseball is just the greatest sport and we have the best team, with the best fans, in the best stadium. And also the best announcers; Kruk and Kuip are the best. And I'm not being bias at all here :)  It also doesn't hurt that they won two world championships in four years.
I love baseball and I grew up, and currently live, a mere half hour from San Francisco. My family also loves baseball. We all played baseball or softball or both. When a game is on, you can find us all sitting and watching. While writing this, I am currently sitting in my room watching the game, cheering and clapping every time they get a hit or score a run. And yes, I am by myself. And there has been a lot of cheering. The Giants are currently winning 9-1. The All-Star break has been good to my Giants.
I watch every game that I am home to see, and listen to them on the radio when I'm in the car. Because what if I don't watch and I miss something amazing? Yeah, I could watch it get replayed later, but there's nothing like watching it live. I'm still upset that I was at work when Angel Pagan hit his in the park home run last year. This means that I spend a lot of time watching Giants games. And then when the season is over, there's always this feeling like, what do I do with my life now? There's just something about baseball that is really special and that I love so much. I can't really explain it; it's just magical.
And this obsession can also come with a lot of headaches and heartbreaks. If the Giants make it to the post season, I'm pretty much a wreck. Don't get me wrong, I'm so so excited, but it can be a little rough on my nerves. The last time the Giants were in the world series, I thought I was going to throw up every game for fear that they might lose and be out of the running. I spend most of the intense games looking like this:

  Me in a stressful moment.

But I just can't stop. I love the Giants too much. My idea of a perfect evening is sitting watching a Giants game, beer in hand. Oh and they're winning, obviously. Also some garlic fries if I'm at AT&T Park.

I've recently acquired a bobble head of my FAVORITE Giant, Brandon Belt, aka the baby giraffe, hence my giraffe hat.

My favorite Giant when I was younger, Jeff Kent.

Me and my brother Michael at a game.

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Brian Wilson, even if he is a Dodger now.

The happiest place on earth.

The Giants and Paul Newman are the best. Uhhhhbsessed.

Laugh Out Loud

On occasion, there are some things that make me laugh really hard. It's not just the first time I watch them either; it's every single time I watch them. And then when I show them to other people, they look at me like I'm a little crazy. Or they think, yeah that's funny, but why is she laughing so hard? So I thought that I would share some of these things with you. Maybe you'll find them just as funny as I find them or maybe you won't find them funny at all. Either way, here they are (also, I can't find some of the videos, so I hope you enjoy my play-by-play of the scene):

The Ragtime Gals on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon singing R Kelly. Gets me every time.

This Old Spice commercial
Come on, that's funny.

Anything with Dooneese on SNL
This was the only good clip I found on youtube, but here's a link to another one:

George of the Jungle: JAVAJAVAJAVAJAVA

The cold open of a season 7 episode of The Office called 'Classy Christmas Part I'. They're taking a group picture outside for the office Christmas card. They decide to take a "fun" picture. Kevin suggests that, "What if all the boys are on one side, all the girls are on the other. The boys are all like, why I oughta (shaking his fist) and the girls are like, let's go shopping." Every one just ignores Kevin's suggestion and moves on. And that's it. It makes me laugh every time I watch that episode, and I've watched every episode of The Office about a million times. I couldn't find a clip of it, but here's a picture instead:

The cold open of the season 2 episode of Parks and Recreation titled 'Tom's Divorce'. Ron makes Leslie go to the fourth floor, "the creepiest place on earth" according to Leslie. It's home to the DMV, divorce filings, and probation offices. She goes up there and it's really creepy and gross, there is a mysterious stain on the ground, a man tries to sell her clean urine, etc. She sees Tom and his wife at divorce filings, then a creepy man pops out of nowhere, scares Leslie, and says, "popcorn?" I'm laughing right now typing this out. If you're thinking I'm crazy right now, you're probably right, but you should just go and watch it. It's seriously the funniest. Once again, no video, but a picture:

They're all so funny, right?
